Church Lukas an established and progressive architecture, design and management practice who place human experience at the heart of everything. They create property solutions that deliver commercial and social value. Their portfolio features award-winning buildings, with industry recognition for excellence in design, innovation, sustainability, regeneration, conservation and teamwork.

As a long term client, Church Lukas have prospered in a very competitive environment. Their office was based in a central city location, however the decision was made to relocate to a new site with improved communications and facilities.

The Challenge

Church Lukas decided to move to a contemporary location that suited their business requirements rather than their central city office. Twin Systems undertook the IT relocation element and infrastructure upgrade. The project was to complete a full IT decommission and perform a recommission in their new office. The relocation was carried out at the same time as an upgrade to their internal server population, which had reached end of life and required a refresh. This is to ensure hardware and software was able to support the business and function at its best capacity.

To add to the challenge, timescales were short and the COVID-19 pandemic was taking hold.

The Solution

Server Migration

Twin wanted to ensure Church Lukas weren’t operating on an out of date server and guarantee that the server was not under performing. After conducting an audit, the existing Domain Server had reached its end of life and therefore, it was required to invest in a suitable upgrade, to protect Church Lukas’s data and security.

Church Lukas were migrated from an on premise Exchange Server, with a full migration to Microsoft 365. This improved reliability while maintaining user experience, some file and print share functions were retained with a new on-site server.

This project is an example of a Hybrid Solution where functions such as email capabilities perform well in the cloud, and filing and printing locally due to the amount of processing required.

Office relocation

Twin Systems have successfully carried out thousands of relocation and migration projects.

Our security vetted, technology expert engineers completed an audit and began to decommission Church Lukas’ IT estate. This work was carried out over the weekend to ensure minimal disruption and to allow Church Lukas to operate fully without implications. All IT equipment was then moved to the new office location and the recommission commenced. All Church Lukas’ relocated IT equipment was fully tested to ensure it was functioning and working when required for staff to carry out tasks on Monday as per usual, without any kinks in the chain.
